Big Game Day Feature Video and Pictures

Posted: 3rd October 2011

We’re right in the middle of post-production for Crooked Arrows and are working our butts off to make sure we give you the best movie ever when Spring comes around next year. At the same time, we have a fantastic team that has collected hundreds of hours of behind the scenes footage that we’re sorting through and editing to give you an over-the-shoulder look at exactly what was involved during the shoot. We’ll be publishing a ton of videos from now until the Crooked Arrows debut in April.

One of the most important scenes in the movie is our Big Game scene, the final championship game between the Crooked Arrows and its rival prep school team, Coventry. During the shoot for this scene we had bus loads of Native American communities arrive to support the film (some who traveled up to 12 hours to get there!) as well as several well-known lacrosse coaches and other celebrities.

It was truly an amazing day and in the video below you’ll get to see exactly what it’s all about -- not just the amazing sport of lacrosse and our goal of giving you authentic lacrosse action on film, but also the amazingly rich culture and history behind the best and fastest growing sport.

Please also enjoy these photographs from Big Game Day as well.

Thank you for your support, and we promise there are a lot more videos to come. Please share by clicking on the social media links below:

I am looking foward to seeing the movie. Thanks to the crew who made the day a fun one and thanks to Boston Casting for giving me the opportunity to be there.

  8. This movie is undertaking a huge responsibility. Lacrosse has always been more than just a game. It has always been more than just a sport. Lacrosse was a social institution. At its roots, lacrosse was played as a diplomatic tool. Some “games” were played to settle inter-tribal disputes. Lacrosse was also a mechanism for socialization. Lacrosse appealed to tribal tradition and promoted stability. Cliff Stevenson, who coached Brown University from 1961 to 1982, once described lacrosse as “mayhem with a crooked stick.” Lacrosse was also a source of entertainment and some were said to bet their house, wife, children and even their own personal liberty on the “game” with a crooked stick.
