Thanks To You, Our Final Day of Filming Lacrosse Was a HUGE Success!
Saturday, August 13th marked the last day of shooting the lacrosse scenes for Crooked Arrows. It was a bittersweet ending that was the culmination of years of vision, months of planning and 10 long consecutive days of filming lacrosse action for the cast and crew.
1,500 lacrosse fans came out to St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA at 6:30 in the morning to show their support and be extras in the stands for our final championship game scene.

It was truly a historic spectacle.
In addition to the cast, which includes Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Gil Birmingham (the Twilight series), Crystal Allen, Chelsea Ricketts, Dennis Ambriz, Kakaionstha Betty Deer and the amazing lacrosse athletes who star in the film, the fans saw a plethora of celebrities from the lacrosse world.
Esteemed coaches John Desko (Syracuse), Chris Wojcik (Harvard), Lars Tiffany (Brown), Kevin Gale (Lafayette), Mike Messere (West Genesee), Dom Starsia (Virginia), Mike Daly (Tufts), Gary Gait (Syracuse Women) all came out to show their support. Con Bro Chill and comedian J.R. Redwater came out to entertain the crowd as well.
In the picture below, you will see the above mentioned coaches, along with Three-time All-American Iroquois player Neal Powless, Crooked Arrows producers Mitchell Peck and J. Todd Harris, Jamison Koesterer, and Dr. Miles Harrison, author of Ten Bears: The Morgan State Lacrosse Story.

Also, a huge thank you to screenwriter Todd “Fig” Baird who showed up for the big day. Here is a picture of Todd Baird (right) with Director Steve Rash:

The most memorable part of the day came with the arrival of hundreds of Native Americans that traveled to the set, via bus, to join the crowd in the stands and share the pride of their Nations for the film.
We want to thank the Onondaga, Tuscrora, Mashantucket Pequots, Naragansetts, and Wampanoags Nations, and especially the Tuscrora and Onondaga Nations who drove 6+ hours to get to the set.
We also want to say thanks to Marjorie Colebut, the Tribal Secretary of the Pequot Nation for making the trip as well.

During the next 3 weeks, we’ll continue to film the dialogue and non-lacrosse scenes of Crooked Arrows, and as always we’ll continue to keep you up to date as the movie progresses and release date (April 2012) approaches.

LOVE that little boy. Im so glad you got a pic of him. He was the cutest. He grabbed my hand to show me his tractor. And did a little dance. He was really good with a lacrosse stick for such a small boy.
He is Aaron Printup’s son. Aaron plays the role of Maug on the Crooked Arrows team, and they are both awesome!
I had a great time Saturday at the filming. Though it was a very long day it was worth evry minute. Can’t wait to see the movie.
Had the pleasure of evaluating some of the many players who came out for the tryouts on long island.. It was a terrific experience and awesome to watch some very talented people give their all for a shot at a part in this movie… Congrats to a good friend who behind the scenes did an awesome job… Glad we met in syracuse at one of the best high school games i’ve seen…. Good job from one madman to another
Saturday was awesome, the movie looks like it will be great and I can’t wait to see it. It was great to see my nephew and niece, James and Arien Bissell (a Crooked Arrow and Cheerleader)down on the field. Nine hours on a bus there nine hours back and ten hours in the blazing sun in between, and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it.
